2017 has been a year of various milestones. I’ve focused deeply on understanding copywriting and understanding the power of persuasion, storytelling and empathy to convert leads to buyers.
For digital marketing, there are 2 main aspects to success.
The first is understanding the technical know-how. Understanding traffic strategies from SEO, paid ads, remarketing, email marketing, FB marketing – these tactics merely resulted in leads.
But for true success, I needed to understand the second aspect – which is copywriting – the key to online conversion.
And the best way to learn this was offline by meeting new people and through various interactions.
Commitment To Copywriting
I joined Toastmasters – with the simple goal of being able to speak without “pause-fillers” like ah, you know, so, etc. That commitment and with support from my club – helped me achieved Competent Communicator status within 8 months. At the same time, I’ve made plenty of new friends!
Reflecting my 2017, I didn’t do a lot of new marketing projects. Instead I decided to focus on a just 2 projects – about 6 months on each. They are still a work in progress and hopefully a showcase of my copywriting skillset. 🙂
Commitment To Health
I developed a jogging habit that is now coming to 10 months – where I commit to run 5km on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are rest days.
The jogging schedule is a system I developed.
The goal was NOT to lose weight. The goal was not join a marathon.
The goal was to run 3 times per week.
But weight loss, a healthy body with strong lungs and being able to run 10km effortlessly will be the “side effects”.
Systems are the key to success. Never go after some arbitrary goals. Create systems instead.
Commitment To (My Clients’) Success
For the first 5 years of my business, I didn’t have the luxury of being able to choose clients.
But in 2017, I made a decision to focus on consulting clients that are committed to their success.
Why?
Forgive me for being blunt – the only way for me to be committed to my client’s success was THEY have to be committed to me.
Yes. My focus will now be on clients that are committed to me.
(I have developed a simple process to filter for the most committed clients.)
I still receive calls from headhunters and recruiters who invite me for various job interviews. That amount of renumeration offers – to me – that was indicative of the value I am able to provide.
So this year, the decision to become selective on who I worked with has resulted in long-lasting and beneficial relationships for both parties.

There are currently another 2 more clients – in the same industry – who are also catching up by hitting new sales records and commissions in 2017.
People often ask me what I do. This is what I do – my focus is on you and your success.
But like any relationship, it is a 2-way process that requires commitment by both parties.
Thanks to proven case studies of successful clients and a detailed marketing process, I will revising my consulting fees upwards in 2018.
Why? Because I anticipate quite a number of consultation bookings once news of my clients’ success start to spread around. Time is still my most valuable resource.
Can I guarantee your success? Of course not.
But will I work hard for your success? Yes – when you demonstrate your commitment to your success.
